You could be viewing this article for any number of reasons. Maybe you’re interested in writing haiku, and you’re looking for a few examples. Or maybe you’ve already seen examples, but you’d like to see something a little more contemporary. Or perhaps you’ve already seen the haikus written by masters, and you’d like to have an idea regarding what kinds of haikus someone with no experience actually writes. 😀
Well, if it’s novice written haikus you’re after, you’ve come to the right place. I’ll be posting 5 haikus I’ve written recently here. They’re here for no particular reason, I’m basically choosing the five I wrote most recently. I do hope you find these helpful in some way.

captivating Capiz
mother of pearl shells
both black and white sand beaches
place holds me captive

working
handouts not wanted
working on a solution
i just need more time
—-
slow
slow rustle of leaves
the wind nudging green and brown
childhood memories
—-
columns
in columns they move
no morsel of food is safe
indomitable
—-
red
this high heeled shoe pair
red hued pain throughout the day
sacrifice? how so?
So again, I do hope you find these useful. I tend to adhere relatively strictly to the structure where you have 3 lines, the first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third line has 5 syllables. There’s no need to do so, of course. Some persons advocate fewer syllables, and are less strict about the exact number. Some persons affirm that what is needed is merely a one breath poem. Am all for that actually. I just find that working within the 3 line, 5-7-5 structure tends to give me the best feeling, writing wise.
